Removal Self-forming envelope of a recurring hazardous waste stream made of 100% paper 89% 99% 96% of raw materials purchased is paper, a material with a virtuous life cycle of purchased materials are recyclable1 ⁸ ⁸ In this section, we examine the Group’s energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. While the previous section focused on the Beinasco and Padua sites, where the impacts of raw materials and waste are particularly significant, here we extend the analysis to all PRT sites and offices. From this year onwards, environmental data will be presented separately for PRT S.p.A., PRT Visual and PRT France, as well as on a consolidated basis, to ensure greater accuracy and comparability. As a result, all three-year data has been recalculated according to this new methodology. However, up to 2022, PRT Visual’s data remained combined with PRT S.p.A.’s due to unified administrative management. A further change concerns the calculation of emissions: heating, previously included under Scope 1 emissions, has been reclassified as Scope 2. In this case as well, the three-year figures have been recalculated to ensure data consistency and accuracy. of waste recycled Page 70 Sustainability Report 2024 In 2024, total waste generated by the two Italian production sites amounted to 421 tonnes, down 13% compared to the previous year, thanks to process rationalisation and normal fluctuations in production activity. The percentage of waste sent for recycling remained high, at 96% for PRT S.p.A. and 99% for PRT Visual, demonstrating a well-established model for resource recovery and valorisation. Hazardous waste, present exclusively at the Beinasco site, remained at very limited levels (20 tonnes, less than 5% of the total) and is managed in compliance with current regulations, with particular attention to traceability and disposal at authorised sites. It should also be noted that, following the removal of exhausted activated carbon (already achieved in 2023) and the introduction of LED printing technologies and water-based inks, hazardous waste is no longer generated within PRT Visual’s production cycle. The ISO 14001-certified environmental management system provides the reference framework for the entire Group, supporting the definition of annual improvement objectives and continuous monitoring of environmental performance. Among the most significant actions, PRT Visual introduced the DURST machine, which substantially reduced material waste (from 12–13 linear metres to 3–4 per set-up), contributing to waste reduction. These results reflect the effectiveness of an integrated approach based on prevention, reduction and recovery, strengthening the Group’s environmental competitiveness and customer trust in an increasingly sustainable offering.
