Net-Zero Journey
Our Climate Strategy for a Net-Zero Future
Energy consumption is essential to PRT’s operational activities, but it also represents one of the main sources of greenhouse gas emissions. For this reason, we have launched a decarbonisation pathway that combines reduction, efficiency improvements and offsetting.
In 2024, we formalised this commitment through PRT S.p.A.’s Climate Strategy, based on measurable targets and continuous monitoring, with the goal of achieving Net-Zero by 2050.
What is the Net-Zero Journey
The Net-Zero Journey is the pathway through which we measure and progressively reduce the greenhouse gas emissions generated by our activities, with the objective of achieving net-zero emissions.
To do so, we have:
defined measurable targets
established a time-based roadmap
planned concrete operational actions
adopted a transparent monitoring method
Our Climate Targets
2030
Carbon Balanced
By 2030, we aim to achieve Carbon Balanced status:
offsetting all residual emissions while continuing
to structurally reduce them over time.
2050
Net-Zero
By 2050, we aim to reach Net-Zero:
significantly reducing emissions and offsetting
only the residual share (approximately 10%).

Achieving Net-Zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 (Market-Based) emissions by 2050
Operational Levers
Our Climate Strategy combines emissions reduction, energy efficiency and responsible offsetting.
Actions related to mobility
- Self-generation from renewable sources
- Purchase of certified green electricity
We offset the share of emissions that cannot be fully eliminated in the short term through verified mechanisms aligned with our emissions reduction pathway.
We are progressively extending the measurement perimeter to Scope 3 emissions, with the aim of making our decarbonisation pathway increasingly comprehensive and structured.
Methodology and Independent Verification
PRT S.p.A.’s GHG emissions (Scope 1 and Scope 2 location-based) were verified by an independent certified auditor, in accordance with the GHG Protocol – Corporate Standard, as confirmed by the Verification Letter. Emissions measurement at Group level is also aligned with the international GHG Protocol standard.
Scope 3 emissions currently include those related to processed paper, estimated using the official World Land Trust Carbon Calculator, in line with UK Government guidelines and the GHG Protocol.
