Sustainability Report 2024 Page 73 A first step towards measuring Scope 3 emissions collecting primary data directly from supplier paper mills, in order to obtain specific emissions values rather than sector averages; analysing paper mills’ reduction strategies, with a view to joint improvement of overall environmental impact; extending reporting to other environmental indicators of paper mills, such as water consumption. Alongside the definition of the Climate Strategy, in 2024 PRT S.p.A. launched the analysis and reporting process for Scope 3 emissions, with the aim of progressively expanding the scope of its carbon inventory. In this initial phase, the Company focused on emissions associated with the purchase and use of paper, which accounts for around 91% of raw materials used (by weight). Measurement is carried out using the official World Land Trust calculator, which also takes into account sourcing from FSC® and PEFC - certified suppliers, in line with traceability principles and sustainable forest management. This approach enables PRT to reliably estimate a significant share of its indirect emissions, laying the foundations for more comprehensive and accurate monitoring. Aware that this is only the first step, PRT intends to progressively expand Scope 3 measurement by including emissions contributions from other relevant categories across the value chain. We also aim to obtain more accurate data for calculating paper-related emissions, in particular through: With this gradual, data-driven approach, PRT strengthens its commitment to transparency and to reducing its climate footprint across the entire value chain. For further details on the Scope 3 emissions currently measured, please refer to the Technical Appendix or the Climate Strategy. In the following sections, we describe the impacts related to energy consumption and GHG emissions for 2024.
